[Milsurplus] LR frequency meter and "Couldn't shock mounts be designed

I recall reading in a book "Pacific War Diary" that damage was done to 
ship's railings etc. by sustained heavy gun firing.
I think the ship was a cruiser. Also interesting how hot he said it could be 
below decks and in radio room; enforcement
of petty uniform rules ( wearing of caps at all times, and so on ) even in 
sweltering conditions, under a disciplinarian
captain; on shore leave, beating up a petty disciplinarian NCO; and the 
really poor quality and quantity of food at times.
( Like peanut butter sandwiches a couple times a day. )  No fine literary 
style to this book, but it was acclaimed for its
recording of daily life on a warship. ( Hmmm....think I should remove it 
from the "out pile".
This is a paperback. It has to go - if anyone wants it, I can put it in a
