Whoa. I never stole $800 from Mike. Period. This is absolutely untrue. But as usual in these cases. there is a story here--I'll let you be the judge.
Mike bought a big heavy radio from me about 3.5 years ago. It has its own gas generator, heavy cables, etc., and positively cannot be economically shipped. He said he would pick it up "next month". It was summer time. I am hugely busy with work every summer and I lost track of the transaction. He never called nor made any attempt to contact me. Meanwhile, I foolishly let all record of the transaction roll out of my email and I didn't even know who had bought the radio by the time winter rolled around and I realized the radio was still here. Sounds crazy, but I didn't even know who to contact about the radio. And I had no idea why he wasn't making any attempt to contact me.
After TWO YEARS, Mike calls me and says he is ready to pick up the radio. By this time I had moved and paid professional movers to move the damn thing. And I was pissed. I am NOT A STORAGE SERVICE. So I said, sure come and pay me $20 a month for the storage and pick up your radio. And then I never heard from Mike again....until he posts this backhanded, malicious slur here today--18 month later.
At this point, it is sitting here 3.5 years since Mike said he would pick it up. I am not using it and can't in good conscience sell it. So here it sits because MIke doesn't want to pay what I consider to be a fair storage fee, to say nothing of the moving cost. Am I out of line here? Did I steal $800 from Mike? Or did he abuse me by not meeting his original commitment to pick up the radio and then vanishing?
Over the last 15 years that most of you have known me, plenty of people have bought things from me and waited months to pick them up. But they have always stayed in touch and in many cases, paid me a storage fee out of simple gratitude. Mike thinks storage at other people's homes is free I guess.
Anyway, pretty delightful stuff huh? I never stole $800 from Mike or anyone else. And I resent this lie showing up in a public forum with no explanation when he has done nothing to resolve this issue for the last 3.5 years.
As Paul Harvey used to say, now you know "the rest of the story."

Don has his issues. He stole $800 from me. Be cautious. 73 - Mike

Don, you advertized a piece of Clough-Brengle test gear a couple weeks ago, I replied to your ad both here and to your email, I would have been really nice to at least get some kind of response to my message?
I guess you're just too busy.
