Hi Dave

My work with NASA and Aerospace Corp. materials scientists almost always did
this type of "salvage" at ~150 deg F, purged with dry  GN, with circulating
air.  Heating from inside out sounds good, but keep well below boiling
point.  Put in dry place  with small fan circulating air to keep local H2O
partial pressure low.   I would do this for at least a week or more before
testing - Brownian motion energy gets very low for the last 1 or2% of
remaining water.
