Craigslist is definitely worth checking regularly. It appears to have replaced
the classified ads in the local newspaper as the source for information on
garage sales, estate sales etc. 
As a matter of civic pride, I have to mention
that Craig Newmark, the founder of craigslist, comes from my hometown
(Morristown, N.J.).
