Doesn't the older model have more dial markers? ( Not that they're actually 
all that useful, without a
very careful alignment. )
I would say for my purposes, the oldest, non-LF model is "best" - has the 
best tuning rate - slightly
better than the LF model - and more dial marker points.  It also looks to me 
that the crystal filter
in the older model should be slightly superior, altho at this point its just 
a hunch, which I hope to
verify later. And when you're really digging for marginal, really weak 
signals, an antenna trimmer
DOES make a difference, I know that for sure.
