Is a picture of the SCR-274N set up in a L5-G, the text goes on to say about the AVA, AVR and AVT installations in the earlier versions of the L5 with them mostly being 14 volt systems. Its pure speculation on my part but feel the RCA radios would be a poor choice for use in artillery spotting or most other operations but that's just my opinion.
Would think the SCR-610 would be the choice of radios for aircraft used for artillery spotting or any command functions as soon as ground units were equipped with SCR-508 and SCR-300 sets? Who would want to waste their time with low power hard to operate sets like the RCA stuff? Maybe in stateside training but the RCA sets don't appear to be up to challenges of extended use in real operations.
But once again this is just speculation on my part and the limited amount of time I have seen and operated with them in past nets.
