The R390A's that I had in Hawaii were all rack mount, some on slides that rotated 90 deg for easy access.
Warning!! The 19 in rack MUST be bolted to the floor before using slide out receivers.
Ask me how I know!!!
One of the receivers from Vietnam era and thereabouts was in a cabinet. It dado users on side, flip open top and front of cab trim ring (polished silver looking) had a thinred strip on sides and top. It is about 6" higher opening than the receiver. I postulated that it might have been for the CV 591 SSB ADAPTER. I will check my measurements soon as I find the adapter. (Smiling).
I have 5 or so other cabinets similar. They are all large enough for the Collins style receivers we so admire. I will have to remove the innards as I don't need all the large capacitors that were used for acoustic sounders.
Thanks for jogging my memory
