YouTube has a video on the CV-157 @ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q4xGlIQ6Kqw and Peter puts it through it's paces. The only comment I have is that he is off on his estimate of weight. He says 35 kilos but, like Nick said, it is closer to 45 if you do the conversion. Looks like one could go broke updating to IERC tube shields if they are not already in the set!
The only CV-157 I have ever seen was at Keesler in the late 1960's. I remember only a few of the sets taught in tech school, the CV-157 is one, along with the R-390A, KWT-6 and the UHF workhorses like the TRC-68, GRT-3, GRR-7 and GRC-27. Evidently, equipment weight wasn't an issue with me back then!
Funny, I remember one of the instructors apologizing that there were no all solid state equipment taught in tech school but tube powered equipment was all I ever saw for the next four years. It was only in my last six months in the Air Force that there were any solid state radios like the R-1250 VHF receiver.
Happy Holidays to all and I hope Reuben finds a CV-157 under his tree later this week,Jim
