[Milsurplus] Merrill's Marauders book photo

Osprey Publishing has a book on Merrill's Marauders. One photo in it 
puzzled me. It shows a team with an SCR-284 radio,
with a homemade loop antenna on top, and to the right of it, a barely 
discernible small box which i was finally able to
identify as an RCA  aircraft transmitter AVT-15.

If i've got this right, the photo is seeable in an ebook preview of this 
title, page 26, at

on the Osprey Publishing website.
Another reason to have reservations is that the young guys in the photo 
look remarkably fit, energetic, and relaxed. Clearly not from the
combat zone.
