My question would be, what KIND of service? From the islands photo in Radio News, we know the MAB did make it overseas,at least one. No photo of one in any kind of combat role. Tarawa? No way - that was TBY, and as i read it, the TBYs problemshere lead to it being replaced soon.As for the MAB being used stateside civilian, i know that doesn't prove anything really. I am pretty sure a few BC-611 werediverted to fire or police use. An MAB showing up at a stateside radio station is odd, though.
We DO see photos of SCR-511, SCR-195, SCR-536, TBY in combat situations.-Hue
