Taking another step forward in my get-organized program, I processed through
a Collins
51X-1A vhf aircraft receiver. To squelch any possible objections, let me
mention it was
already missing key parts. Nicely enough, Collins helped me by building the
audio section
as a plug-in module, so I was able to pluck it out, along with tubes and
crystals. There were
a couple 5 MHz band xtals that can double to 30 meters. Along with some
42-43 MHz
rocks. My question is, what would be the fundamental of these, 1/3 that? Or
1/5 ?
Also - I was surprised to be able to pluck out an IF LC 455 kHz selectivity
unit, with 14
tuned circuits in it. Kinda reminiscent of Motorola's Perma-Kay filter, but
this one
has each tuned circuit L adjustable. Anyone know, or have a good guess, of
input
and output Z, and the selectivity I could expect? Kinda had me wondering how
this
would work out, patched into some S-38 class receiver.
thanks-
