I have two of them. I happen to prefer transceiver-y things instead of 
separates requiring control boxes, cables,
and so on. However my use of these is still probably a year off. I am 
determined to learn whether the 2-terminal
Q multiplier circuit add-in has merit.
Meir, the audio filter add-on did occur to me, but I also would like to be 
able to use the radio for AM reception,
including the 6 MHz broadcast band, and that will require tightening the 
skirts somewhat.  I would like to avoid
the external Q5 receiver route. That does work, but it seems to me a bit of 
a hassle to tune around with.

Years back, I had an ARR-15 that I tried to tighten up. I have to admit I 
did a criminal hack job on it, ending up
with a squealing radio. And I started with a government overhauled and 
repacked unit.
