Ray,

Thanks for the information about the Hamfest. I'll have to check Dayton one of these years.

I have three kids, two daughters and a step son. All grown now and somewhat responsible adults, or at least that’s what I am told. And from what they put me and the wife thru in the teenage years it’s the least I can do to put a little burden on them! All kidding aside though I would have to say that Dayton is the only Ham Fest of appropriate size and attendance that I would trust. Timonium is thru, other local ham fest won't get the amount of buyers that Dayton get so it's not worth the trouble unless you are just selling general run of the mill Ham stuff. Specialized stuff like military radios need special venues, small events like Gilbert (MRCA) or the Antique Radio auctions in Washington have possibilities but none of them match Dayton. I have not attended Deerfield/ NEAR Fest but have been told good things about that, also I somehow like the little event that they hold in Richmond called Frost fest. But nothing compares to Dayton.

Ray,

I sympathize with you but why do you want to burden your children with your hobby?

When the time comes to dispose of stuff because of our demise our children be busy caring for their parents and tending to legal and real estate matters.
Believe me, this was my experience with my mother, aunt and mother-in-law.

You mention that Dayton is a good place to dispose of your good. How are the regional hamfests like Nearfest, Timonium or Sussex?

somehow manage to bring in at least three new items for everyone that gets sold. And have taken the steps of dragging my daughters out to the Ham Fest and letting them see how that works so at some point in the future they can take a truckload to Dayton and dispose of it.
