This is actually on topic as I will be using these batteries to power dynamotors for mil-surplus equipment.
About 15 years ago, I purchased a couple of pallets of block cell NI-CD batteries. They are 100+ AH made by NIFE-SAFT and were used in an AT&T MW site for stand-by power. Over the years, some of the plastic cases have deteriorated from partial sunlight exposure. My question is, have any of the list-members here
ever had the occasion to re-build batteries where the cases were shot but the actual cells were good? I think these are worth refurbishing as I believe they cost over $1200.00 each new, and have a life expectancy of over 20 years. From the SAFT website: " - Trouble-free long service of 20 years or more "

PS: With exposed cell connectors, they are easily configured to almost any voltage. I believe I have enough to configure 28VDC @450AH +/- assuming all are up to snuff.
