I think I saw a photo of this type of receiver associated with some meteorological equipt . I think it was used to receive telemetry from radiosondes set aloft.

Howdy men - any idea what this WW2 era USN VHF FM rcvr is? Single band, 70-?? mc http://r.ebay.com/rMZ79E
- Mike Hanz says it looks like it is based on the Hallicrafters S-27 or
S-36 but single band and FM only? - possibly countermeasures but not definitely. And it is odd to see connectors on the sides of a rack mounted unit...I'm not selling or bidding, just curious.
