My uncle bought one of these sets after the Second World War from a department store (Macys, Gimbels ?) and kept it in my grandmother's attic.

He removed it in the 1960's and gave it to my cousin. My cousin was more interested in photography and audio than radio so he traded it to me for a tape recorder.

I had a heck of a time powering it up. I built a 12 volt dc supply to power the unit. Since money was tight I took a power transformr from an old TV set and rewinded the secondary for 12 volts. I got the rectifier diodes from Poly Paks (remember them ?). I had a heck of a time powering up the unit because to dynamotor startup current kept blowing the rectifier diodes. I finally got it running by using the supply to charge a car battery and fed the dynamotor from the battery.

This was my first serious HF set. I wanted something lighter to take on trips so I migrated to Command Sets but that is another story.

Hello,

I have no affiliation to the seller but this just seems like a really cool opportunity for someone to set up and operate what seems to be a brand new No. 19 set.
