Kudos to Bro. Dave for a well done job, good documentation for the fans
here, and for the hints about
the programmed oscillators. Yes, if they work out, they'll be a lifesaver
for some radios.

Dave, the W.E. 227 radio was bought by the U.S. Coast Guard as the TRC-109.
Of course, this has
nothing to do with AN/; rather it's the C.G.'s own whimsical naming
convention, neither fish nor
fowl. Then, per an example owned by a ham in Spain, some of these were
remanufactured for the
fishing industry there. I believe the front panel and not much else was
modified. This subject came
up on the W.S. No.19 group, U.K. based. When I saw the photo, it actually
did take me some minutes
to realize what exactly I was looking at. Sorry, I don't think I have the
photo still. Altho that possibly
be obtained if I post again on their group. I should really have saved it
'when' and cannot
understand why I didn't.
But - the part of this post you will be enthused about is: I have the
TRC-109 radio, and I have the
manual. Yours then makes the third I am aware of in the USA. One came up
maybe a year back on
Epay, but it wasn’t in that great condition, and I think it went for modest
money.
You might have to wait until 1Q 2015 however to get a copy. No charge; I'll
just add it to my to-do
list. Think I'll shoot a copy for the Spanish fellow; that should produce a
photo of his set also.
I wasn't too wedded to mine and was in fact considering getting rid of it.
Doesn't look enough
'combat' to me. Altho every time I read some favorable post about a radio I
was thinking of selling,
my resolve wavers. The cutest thing about it, I thought, was the modulated
single 6L6.
My radio came out of Woodinville, WA, where I used to live.
( Used to be hillbilly land, now it's software money upscale. )
