Day before Dayton. Stopped by the Hamvention site this early afternoon and saw that as just like the year before just when you think the venue can’t get any worse it dose. You would think that the people who own the Harra Arena would be able to put some part of the money they take in back into the grounds but as usual there is no sign of any improvements or maintenance on the facility. They cannot be bothered to do something as minimal as grade the access road to the site to try to resolve some of the issues with the huge pot holes that are in that tank track, the blacktop is a sea of patches over a parking lot that has not been resurfaced in at least twenty years. Although only a fraction of the vendors are there saw that Mr. Stark’s compound was in place and several others of the Mill radio world were milling around. I was content not to get out but do my usual trip to Midwest Surplus and Fair radio and seeing that all well there and if anything Fair radio was doing more business then usual for the day before Dayton and that they have been expanding buying estates and selling radios from them. They also have a thriving business in selling parts for command sets, BC-348 and ART-13 transmitters evident by the large amount of radio carcasses scattered about with several striped as much as the thanksgiving turkey after the holidays.
