Yes, although it does make sense in the context of this particular box,
which was adeded to an existing system between the antenna coupler and
LORAN receiver. If it used, say UHFs, this would be needed:
ANT---Coupler---------Pye/UHF---Converter--cable UHF/Pye----APN-4/9
Using the Pyes:
ANT---Coupler------------Converter--cable pye/Pye----APN-4/9
The UHF/Pye adapters are VERY scarce. I've seen perhaps 3 in the last 10
years.
The only other thing US made that uses the Pyes is the WS 19 Mk IIs made
for Russia.
