[Milsurplus] question about military receiver bc969A

Does anyone knows the military receiver Signal Corps BC969A? (from 1943).

Or can give me some information about it? 

I own such a receiver.

It's a long wave receiver who works from 15 till 150Khz. (This is really
low).

It's a rare and hard to find item.

 

My questions:

Where is he used for and waht was his function?

I can't find may or enough information on the web, only it was an
interception receiver.
