[Milsurplus] Current military radios

Gentlemen:

Can anyone tell me what sort of military radio is in common use on the ground these days.
Just curious, I suppose they use VHF and HF. Is spread spectrum common?

I joined the list for help on an old GRC 106. I did get help in getting it going and it works quite well.
I think there are still some dirty spots on the turret.

An older former army radio operator who dates from the early days of the GRC 106 asked me the 
above question and I told him I would try to help.
