[Milsurplus] GRC-9 rec question

I have only this one rec on hand, nothing to compare it to but the manual.
TM-11-263  Fig. 110 page 165 shows top view. The C7 tuning cap appears
to have trimmers on each section, with screw adjust and collar. These
are visible also thru the openings in the cover marked C7A, B, C in Fig. 
160, page 222.  The rec I have here, you only see only the metal plate of
the rotor and a solder lug (unsoldered ) and a hole where
an adjusting trimmer screw might be mounted, except it's not threaded.
No other trimmers are mentioned in the manual except those accessible
on the bottom of the rec - not on the top, where the C7 A,B,C cover 
opening are.  Nor is any trimmer built into the C7 tuning cap, shown
in the manual schematic.  So what gives? Was something removed by the 
previous owner, or was this item left out in some manufactures?
The standalone rec was robbed of the grill and nameplate. Maybe the
perp was under the influence of that silly, evil surplus radio conversion
manual from the 1980s that recommended you remove the receiver and
discard the rest.
