[Milsurplus] Cleaning Tube Sockets

Hello Ron,

For cleaning I use dental brushes. They are for sale in different shapes and sizes at any drugstore or even groceryshops. After brushing dont forget to clean the surface of the tube sockets cause they sometimes turn black (carbon). And cause shor circuit. I never use ordinairy contactcleaner. Only were volume pots need to be cleaned.

I use pure aethanol. Lets say alcohol or tunerspray special for those HF ore even higher frequency spots.

Ordinairy contactcleaner can clean the contacts but after evaporation can leave an oily based film which shorts HF Signals. Dont forget to clean the tube/valves base and pins and even the glass between the pins. Beware of cleaners which are abrasive. They can do more harm to the equipment instead of the problem youre trying to solve. Sandpaper to scrub of oxides on the tubepins causes more oxidation cause protective layers are wiped off.

best regards

> Any suggestions on how to clean up tube sockets? Particularly the ceramic tube sockets used in the Milsurplus equipment. I’ve thought about using a spray contact cleaner but using a pipe cleaner to give it a little abrasive help.
