[Milsurplus] Cleaning Tube Sockets

The best thing I've found for cleaning tube sockets and other connector
types is an ultrasonic cleaner full of Krud Kutter. You can find
ultrasonic cleaners at most reloading/shooting supply stores like Bass
Pro Shops or Cabela's (they're used for cleaning spent cartridge cases
prior to reloading). You can also find them at some of the big stores
like Home Depot or Lowes. Krud Kutter seems to do a pretty good job of
cleaning off the gunk. It's not a real harsh chemical, so it won't
attack the metal, but you should rinse it off well to get rid of any
residue or film left on the item being cleaned. I have a Lyman cleaner,
and I use mine a lot for cleaning sockets, gunky variable capacitors,
connectors, etc. Just remember that if you clean anything with moving
parts, you WILL have to re-lube it after cleaning!

FWIW ...
