Hi,

A couple of years ago I (re)discovered the same thing with a fifty cent 
garage sale, cheap transistor radio with a built-in loopstick antenna. 
You don't get a compass rose for fifty cents and there is no crank. You 
aim the whole gosh-darn radio. But it will null the much stronger 
'local' transmitter and pull in the Mexican station (or other Spanish 
language station). In the other direction it will do the same thing in 
French for stations around Quebec. Unfortunately I don't understand 
either language...so no ID.
