One thing that may help for the 6AK5 is that it is similar to the Western
Electric 408A which is a 6AK5 with a 20-volt heater.  Solid state FETRONS
were made specifically to replace the 408As in carrier systems.  But then
carrier systems operate at fairly low frequencies, so the FETRON 
equivalent might not perform at VHF like the 6AK5 does.
