Back about 1960, when a BC-348 was my best receiver rather than a
historical artifact, I modified it rather extensively. Added a chassis on
the back and made a new rack mount front panel. I had found an LC filter
in a surplus store - I no longer remember what the bandwidth was, but the
center frequency was about 50 KHz. Following a design of W6NRM I made an
oscillator to convert the 915 KHz IF down to the filter frequency, run the
signal through the filter, and then convert back to 915 KHz and put it
back into the IF amplifier. Making the conversion oscillator slightly
tunable gave me a movable pass band. Also added a product detector.
