 I first came across the MIL-HDBK-162A a few years ago, working on updating a history of missile and space tracking radars. It's awfully sparse on info for some radars even though they aren't also covered in the formerly classified volume B (e.g., FPS-78). 

Some or all of the vol B may have been declassified. Note that this page claims to have come from 162B: http://www.usarmygermany.com/Units/Air%20Defense/Org%20Chart_AN-CPS-1.htm
And I believe that the Radomes/org guys had a copy of it, or parts of it, a couple years ago because I obtained some BMEWS info from it by that route.

That's just Volume 1 (UNCLAS).  I've never come across V 2 but it was 
probably thinner.  There is also an earlier edition dated 01/12/1951 with only 
32 
pages!  Guess that the Army didn't have much unclassified RADAR equipment 
back then.  :-)
