I hurried to look at this; was disappointed to see the auction had ended;
was relieved
to see the radio is without its cabinet. Good luck on fabricating one -
altho it seems
it can be done - Bill Howard told me he paid to have a sheet metal person
build a
replica case for him.

As for the listings statement that the CIA gave these to Angola in the
1960s - I have
to say, I ain't buyin' it, not yet. The story is not straight: gave to whom
in Angola -
the colonial masters, then the Marxist government that followed, or the
supposedly
Western aligned FREELIMO ? As result of Portugal's colonial policy of
suppress and plunder, most Angolans of either side were illiterate. You're
going to
teach them to use an old-fashioned HF radio and use Morse telegraphy?
Some of us here are old enough to remember Portugal's "Voice of the Wst"
broadcast stance. Pure horsesh*t, maybe like if Alabama's governor in 1960
saying Alabama's governance represented the true essence of Americanism.
I don't believe the story. There were never that many TRC-10s made, we can
be pretty sure, but there seem to be survivors around, plus we have the fact
that they somehow were distributed to CAP units (odd as that seems.)
