[Milsurplus] One (or two) more R-45/ARR-7 question

Hello,

I've finished up aligning my ARR-7 and the only issue I am having so far is that the "Sharp XTAL" setting doesn't seem to do much of anything. What I mean by that is that when I switch from "Broad XTAL" to "Med XTAL" I can definitely hear a narrowing of the bandwidth but when I switch to "Sharp XTAL" the receive bandwidth becomes very wide again. It sounds very similar to "Broad IF". When I was aligning the radio adjusting C63 did not seem to have any effect whatsoever. I also noticed that C62 had very little effect. It had some effect but not very much. I am quite sure everything is aligned well as the received signal strength drop from "Broad XTAL" to "Med XTAL" is very small. It almost sounds like something isn't connected or perhaps the crystal stops oscillating when in "Sharp XTAL".

Also, what does the manual, in section 5.27, step d, mean when it says to back off on the secondary adjustment of T1 until the output reaches a minimum value between the two previously noted maximums? Does that mean when the phasing control is set for max selectivity that the received signal strength will be at a minimum? I know that we are looking to establish a good notch with this step for the elimination of heterodynes but the wording has me confused.

Finally, does anyone have a spare coupler that is used for the phasing capacitor shaft? The phenolic insulating wafer on mine is broken and therefore all insulating properties have been lost. Attached is a photo of my (damaged) coupler.

Thank you,
