My 1965 M151A1 has no seat belts and it gets real squarely above forty miles per hour or so, defiantly not designed for highway driving but real fun off road. Did they not install seat belts in the jeeps so you can get out of them in a hurry?

When i got to my first PCS (Permanent change of station) assignment in
1960 our flightline truck had seatbelts and their usage was not
optional. Even though it hardly ever got above 10 mph and was one of
the old early small size pickup's (cab with two seats over the motor).
I thought it was a waste of time and effort but the USAF didn't and said so.
