Have been wasting tons of time on primitive counter measure receivers that I bought at Dayton, mainly an AN/APR-4Y Have known that the APR-1, 4 and RDO were all sort of dogs being all octal base tubes and not supporting FM but somehow always held out hope for the APR-4Y being that it was a later design and used seven pin tubes (6AK5, 6AL5) and the like that maybe provided somewhat better performance. The thing is I am finding out that there is almost nothing out there on these radios, wanted to know if anyone had any information on them or something like a manual. Both the APR-4 and the Y have the schematic located under the cover of the IF deck and I did photograph and clean up a picture of the schematic for the APR-4Y if anyone wants one but a couple things I have been looking for are (1) what is the B+ voltage that was provided to the tuning heads? Think it may be +300 but not cetin. (2) What was the rated sensitivity for the APR-4 in AM narrow and wide? And what was it for the 4Y in AM narrow, wide and FM? (3) Is the CV253/ALR multiband head the only correct head for the 4Y being that I don't have it have been working with a TN-17 head from a regular APR-4, and last but not least I now realize that the APA-10 Panadaptor appears to be a correct display for that receiver. Saw two at Dayton including one in good condition but did not buy it and am now regretting it.
