I think the Klystron was a US invention (Varian) but the Magnetron came
over w/ the Tizzard Mission, for certain.

It was given to Raytheon and improved by Percy Spencer to be far easier to
produce. The original was hogges out of a solid copper block. Spencer
worked out a way to make it by stacking up stampings with interspaced
layers of solder preforms, then furnace brazing the whole assembly.
