I think they both mean using your hands to do something. Either  building something or flipping through stuff

This "Hanzing" you speak of....is it practiced by the masses, or only a select few with the proper skills and vision?

We have a similar term here for a process that defies explanation. You contribute a few vague tidbits that can range from an old photo or subway token, 1930s picture postcard from Coney Island, a paper clip, maybe a sewing thimble and some string, or a pull tab from a wide mouth bottle of Mickey's Malt Liquor, and it is miraculously converted into a useful piece of radio equipment that is as much a visual treat as it is functional.

It gave rise to the term heard throughout machine shops these days, "See if he can Hanz one up for you".

I wonder if the two are somehow related?
