[Milsurplus] List of Plugs & Jacks

The list on the Internet contains some errors. For example, the first three
in the list are actually circuit symbol designators (how the connector is
identified on the schematic or wiring diagram). And the commercial part
numbers listed are all incorrect (they are missing the alternate key letters. If
you buy the plugs listed, they will not fit the radio. Plus the actual plugs
don't have either number on them - they have a 6-1 or 6-2 RCA part number
prefixed with "P-"). The three listed are not all of the ones used with the
ARB, either.
It says that PL-153 and PL-154 are the same as the ones used on AN/ARC-5.
Which as anyone who has ever looked for the ones for AN/ARC-5 knows is very
definitely not correct. The same error is repeated in reverse under the
A.R.C. number.
The only two official publications that I've ever come across that list
connectors are:
(no pub number)
"Signal Corps Plugs and Sockets for Aircraft Radio" dated 11-19-43 compiled
by Dayton Signal Corps Procurement District and Depot. Unfortunately (but
understandably), it does not list any Navy Type Numbers or A.R.C. numbers.
and
SIG 5 (various dates).
Using SIG 5 is time consuming as if you have a PL- or SO- number and want
to know what it is, first you have to look that number up in SIG 5-1 to get
the SIG STK NR. Then you go to the volume of SIG 5 that includes the stock
number for the details. Sometimes the entries give an application and
sometimes they don't. If they do, it will usually only be the first set built that
used the connector. A complete SIG 5 from 12/45 (probably the best revision
to have if you can find or afford only one) takes up about two shelf feet.
