My "slightly" modified T-18 has the 2604 XTAL.
The previous owner moved it down a bit to cover the 160M band.
The unit is marked Aircraft Radio Corporation 11-43.
I'm still looking for a T-17 that I can afford.

Beautiful writeup, Mike! If anyone could dig up the information, I
figured you'd be the one. Thanks for all the research.

Just to muddy the waters further, I note with puzzlement that the two
T-18/ARC-5 transmitters wandering around here somewhere have a 2601 kHz
and a 2604 crystal stuck into their respective sockets. Making the
puzzlement more puzzling, the set of crystals for the O-4/ARC-5 Crystal
Frequency Generator at http://aafradio.org/flightdeck/arc5-3.htm has a
2604 kHz crystal stuck in the hole clearly marked 2609 kHz! Makes one
wonder what they were thinking... :-)

Very 73 and well done,
