[Milsurplus] HC6U crystals needed 7.007/5.535

Have a Harris URC-94 that I use on M&S net, it’s a direct frequency synthesized and all that sort of stuff, tuned it to 5.690 USB and the rock for that channel in the PRC is on 7.346 and audio is good, so going to assume that if that works with the same offset (1.65Mhz) as the AM channels that don’t need to include a offset for SSB. There is a clarifier for the receiver that allows you to move a little in frequency. Will look at the manual tomorrow at work, have it downloaded on my system at work and not burned a copy for the home computer yet and perhaps that will shed a little light into all the other details. If no rocks turn up may have to install one or two of those little DDS cards and use that although looking at the set do not think you can QSY very far. Different set of coils for each channel and all that sort of stuff. The built in antenna tuner changes for each channel and works with a different set of taps for each channel and is supposed to load a whip antenna that did not come with the set. Portable antenna will be another problem but thinking that I will throw together a small dipole that I can set up for 60 meters for portable operation being the goal here is to do a couple portable opps for M&S net, somehow thought this would be cheaper then buying a PRC-74 for $300 being I only have $50 in the two PRC-108 sets now but can see this crystal thing adding to the cost.

Ray you probably need to off set for the audio. Put a good "calibrated"
receiver on
5690(dial frequency), transmitt on the PRX-108 and see what the actual
crystal frequency in the PRC-108 is to generate that signal is.

Picked up a couple AN/PRC-108 transceivers at a fest the other day, only
two that I have ever seen before with the exception of Mr. Starks,
anyway if your like anyone else and unfamiliar with them they are a
solid state AM/SSB portable transceiver that was built for the Coast
Guard by Sunair back in the late sixties or early seventies. Big radio
for portable operations but way open and easy to work on, they both have
crystals for 2.182, 2.638, 2.670 and 5.690 so the plan is to change
channel 4, 5.690(USB) to 5.357(USB) and channel 3, 2.670 (AM) to 3.885
(AM). Looking at the manual that’s available on line on Sunaisrs site
don’t think this will be a big deal but it creates one of the largest
problems today with radios of this age, I will need two HC6U crystals.
One on 7.007 MHz for 5.357 to use on M&S net and a 5.535 rock for 3.885
AM at other events. The radio use the same crystal for TX and RX with a
1.650 offset, so if you have one or two of these rocks please contact me
and will see what form of a deal we can work out. Ray F
