not one panel instrument or radio, but very nice exterior,
Castle regularly holds open cockpit days, and the last one I went to was
back in 2009 or 2010. The interior of the B-36 is no longer gutted, a
lot has been replaced, although there are still some empty holes. Only
the forward crew section has been worked on, the rear section of the
fuselage still appears to be completely empty. There was a BC-348 and
ART-13 transmitter there, but not on shock mounts, the racks and cabling
for the AN/ARC-3 were there, but no radios. There was an out of place
BC-458(IIRC) command transmitter on the navigator's table, which was a
bit out of place and time. Also a switch labled "RECORDER", the two
positions were labeled BC-348 and APR (I think, my memory might be a
bit fuzzy). Makes me wonder if the -348 was being used in an ELINT role.
The exterior of the B-36 has been going downhill over the years, I was
there last month, and it is in the process of being repainted.
