Jack,

The R-374/APR4X wasn't a prototype. It was the second of three production
models of AN/APR-4(*). The X suffix, like the Y on R-444/APR-4Y, indicates
it has different input power requirements or ratings. I don't have a manual
on the R-54/APR-4 to check but R-375 input is 115 or 80 VAC, 60 to 2600
CPS. R-444/APR-4Y input is 115 VAC 380 to 1000 CPS. All three were produced
in significant quantities.

AN 16-35R375-2 dtd 12/05/44 later became AN 16-30APR4-3 and
administratively became T.O. 12P3-2APR4-2. I have a reprint under the middle number
revised through 05/07/54 for $21.00 plus $3.00 shipping. I also am supposed to
have an extra original but it's only revised through 04/12/46.
