First thanks for your responses .

For the record }, I do use the MVC control for stronger SSB and CW 
signal reception, even then in some cases I have to de-tune the antenna 
a bit.  My two working sets are hot, considering their age }

Has anyone performed a quantitative analysis on just improving the AC by 
pass on the Cathode, VT-98, 6B8, pin 8 ?  If so did this improve the SSB 
/ CW reception of stronger SSB/CW signals using the MVC or AVC mode 
setting?  I assume not at this point.
