Search E-bay for germanium diode, and take your chances.

The early numbers like 1N34A had very little meaning.  It was a miracle 
that they rectified/detected and didn't consume any heater current.  The 
difference between part numbers was mostly a sort for reverse voltage.  
1n34 became just a generic designation for almost any Ge diode.

 From my experience with crystal sets, I can tell you that most of the 
devices out of the far Far-East in the glass packages with just a black 
band work very well.  If you insist on vintage product, I think you'll 
find that as well.
