Ebay...well it's not the bargain basement is was in the late 90's.  But, since the Ham Trader Yellow sheet no longer exists, what are you gonna do?
Recent example: I have mentioned my ATD transmitter here before. I saw a NIB remote control listed on ebay a few weeks ago. The seller lived less than a mile from me !  Now, that's what I call a rare connection. 
I think there needs to be some sort of organized database. As we all age...  our kids and/ or spouses have no idea what to do with the equipment after we are gone.
