[Milsurplus] Equipment for sale

Odd to hear such a strong opinion since I assume you'll neither attend in
person nor bid by mail under any circumstances and regardless of terms of
sale?
Not so ridiculous since nearly all "serious" auctions are conducted this way
(art, coins, guns, land, other rare items and high $$ items). Most auctions
allow mail bidders to place an upper limit and will execute your bids
exactly as if you were there, so no method "screws" anyone.
As I clearly stated I offered my suggestion based on the assumption of
maximizing the sale proceeds. If his goal is just to get rid of everything,
then maybe a garage sale is the best way?

Ridiculous.
Your suggested method will essentially screws anybody who is not personally
at the auction. The playing field is a mountainside.
If I saw an auction with those terms, I'd hit DELETE at once and not even
bother with the list of items.
