Gents:
Little Boy and Fat Man weapons both used four APS-13 "Archie's" as
altimeter triggers connected in series-parallel. Here's a good photo of the
interior of L-11, the weapon that detonated over Hiroshima:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Atombombe_Little_Boy.jpg . Click on the
photo and click on it again for an enlarged view of the interior showing at
least two APS-13's arranged around the gun barrel.
For an interesting discussion see http://cryptome.org/nuke-fuze.htm .
I find it the cruelest of ironies that Little Boy and Fatman were both
triggered through the performance of four Yagi-Uda antennas on each weapon.
