Yes, had fun doing the 220 AM stuff at Gilbert. And may be the only band and operational first that was not a K4CHE achevment!

The AN/ARC-27 and its similar companion the AN/ARC-55 will go down into the 222 ham band with no modifications, but not very far.
In fact one of the alignment frequencies listed in the manual is in the 224 range, something like 224.8 if I remember right. The control head will dial down to 220.0 and the radio will follow, but the alignment won't track that far.
Might be fun to set up another "cold war net" on 224.9 at Gilbert next year.
