Central New York has a severe four season climate. Blazing heat and
jungle humidity in the summer, prodigious lake effect snow and sub zero
temperatures in winter, a short damp spring, and often, a beautiful
fall season. The effects of the heat and snow on older nav-aid equipment
was serious, especially the ILS. Climbing the tower to knock ice off
the GRN-9 TACAN antenna was no fun, and very frightening for me.
