[Milsurplus] Question regarding swapping the broken multi element switch of an ART-13

Hi Dennis,

L113, L114 and the S113 switch sections are all on one L-shaped subassembly
which is mounted on the firewall (as the manual calls it) of the 813/2x811
compartment. I'm not worried about the disassembly from that side, but I'm
trying to avoid having to get into the autotune section and pull the
autotune unit of that control in order to be able to withdraw the shaft of
the switch assembly. If I unscrew the setscrews of the coupling which
connects the switch shaft to the autotune, it doesn't look like I may have
the room to uncouple the shafts without having to pull out the autotune
module for that section. Just what you think I may probably have to do :-(
...

I'll practice the removal of the assembly on the ART-13 carcass - that's the
assembly I want to extract to use as the replacement for the one with the
broken S113 shaft. I don't intend just to replace the switch, but the whole
assembly.

Thanks for the input!

Myer,

As you probably know , S-113D is there to prevent the transmitter from
being keyed if/when Control C is between one of it's numbered
positions. Buried way at the back of the assembly holding many of the
PA tuning components including L113, L114, S-113 switch sections A
thru H and a bunch of fixed capacitors. Never done it but looks like
the assembly should drop out through the bottom of the radio if the
mounting screws can be reached and some connecting wiring can be
unsoldered. One would probably have to dismount the "C" autotune
unit and pull it forward to release the S-113 switch shaft as well.
Looks like there's a set-screw to be released on the shaft coupling too.

Always tight working inside an ATC/ART-13 but looks doable here.

Good luck.
