I've had pretty good luck with several of the mini inverters on ePay and
from
Murphy's Surplus. Often a simple rewinding of the main transformer coil
will provide you with a high voltage, low current supply for B plus
purposes. And yes you will experience some birdies at the higher
frequencies caused by the frequency of the switcher. Very very hard to
filter out.
