Sean, my theory, until you guys take it apart, is that the BC-1306 was basically
only used by elite units and Marine Corps in WW2. That the SCR-284 (BC-654)
did most of the work. I have photos and video of Pacific area BC-654 in
abundance; have only seen one photo of BC-1306 in Pacific area, and that was
with US Marines.
I have been wondering also if - the 1306 was the radio carried by the Rangers
when they liberated that POW camp in Philippines ( book= "Ghost Soldiers" );
and if the 1306 was the radio used by the two-man teams that parachuted
into Japanese POW camps in China to arrange for the POWs supply and
evacuation. I can't see a 2-man team jumping with a whole 654, not to
mention the difficulty of cranking the GN-45. The TRC-10 is another possibility,
but it's practically as large as the 654.
