Interesting dialogue, but the ARB is not all that complicated.
The capacitor which I understand is stuck on the antenna
input(s) would tend to shorten the antenna which is commonly
used. (Vis: an inductor would lengthen it.)
It may have been found that the stock arrangement was not
close enough to the antennas in the real world, so a smidge of
capacitor was inserted in series.
Trivia:  This subject got  a lot of attention.
